The Real Housewives of Potomac is known for its messy dinner parties, but Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie, are currently facing drama that is entirely too real for TV. The couple is wrapped up in a massive $400,000 insurance fraud scandal, and they just suffered a major loss in court.
A Carroll County judge has officially ruled that Wendy and Eddie must hand over their financial information, including years of bank and credit card records, to prosecutors.
The Backstory: The Alleged “Burglary”
The entire case stems from an incident in April 2024. The Osefos reported to police that while they were vacationing in Jamaica, their Maryland home was burglarized. They claimed that over $200,000 worth of luxury items—specifically designer handbags and jewelry—were stolen from their upstairs bedroom. They subsequently filed an insurance claim that reportedly reached up to $450,000.
The Investigation & The “Missing” Ring
The situation quickly unraveled when the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation. Authorities claim that security footage showed no signs of a break-in during the timeframe the couple reported.
Even worse, investigators allege that several items listed as “stolen” had actually been returned to stores for full refunds before the alleged burglary even happened. The final nail in the coffin? Prosecutors claim Wendy was spotted on social media wearing her gold diamond anniversary band—a ring that was supposedly stolen in the heist.
The Charges
In October 2025, the couple was indicted on a combined 33 criminal counts, including 16 charges each of insurance fraud, conspiracy, and providing false information to law enforcement. Because the value of the claims exceeds $300, it is considered a felony in Maryland.
The Osefos, who are set to be tried separately, maintain their innocence and continue to deny any wrongdoing. However, with the judge now forcing them to turn over their private financial records, the prosecution is digging deep into their accounts to prove a pattern of fraud.
